UK

The UK is made up of the countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Nothern Ireland. Its full name is the UK of Great Britain and Nothern Ireland. Britain comprises England, Wales and Scotland. It is the largest island in Europe. The capital, London, has a population of around 8 million. The British climate is generally mild and temperate. The weather is very changeable.

The UK is a parliamentary democracy. Her Majesty Queen Eizabeth II is Head of State, with a largely cceremonial role. The powers of the Queen are limited by Parliament and it is hereditary, and not elective. The House of Commons and House of Lords, with the monarch, comprise Parliament. Elections are held at least every five years. The country’s long-established democratic system of government has provided political stability for many years. Britain has been a member of the European Union since 1973.

UK has a large population of nearly 58 million. Britain is a relatively densely populated country. For ccenturies people from overseas have settled in Britain, either to escape political or religious persecution, or in search of economic opportunities. English is the official language, but many people know more than one language. Everyone in Britain has the right tto religious freedom.

London is very popular for tourist, because they can visit a lot of marvelous things there. One of the most famous landmarks in London is Tower Bridge. Also you can see the Monument, Sir Christopher Wren`s spectacular column symbolising the rebuilding of London after the Great Fire of 1666 and others things like Buckingham Palace, Chinatown, Greenwich area and London Zoo.

Lithuania

The Respublic of Lithuania lies in the centre of Europe, on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. The country has borders with Latvia, Belarus, Poland and Russia. The country has a diverse landscapes. The highest point is Juozapines hill, not far from Vilnius. The traveller is soothed by quiet, picturesque landscapes: hill, rivers and brooks, valleys aand woodlands, and some lakes and rivers. The longest river is Nemunas which flows into the Baltic Sea. Lithuania’s climate is mild. It is transitional between maritime and continental.

Lithuania is Respublic. The Parliament of the Respublic of Seimas is the highest body of state power. The President is elected by direct suffrage for a term of five years. The Government is composed of the Prime Minister and 14 Ministers.

Lithuania has a population of 3.8 million people, 81 % of which aare Lithuanians. The state language is Lithuanian (it’s the official language since 1989). It is also one of the oldest Indo-European languages. Lithuania was the last country in Europe to adopt Christianity in 1387.

There is a lot of to see and to do in Lithuania. For example, the ancient capital of Trakai. There are botanical gardens and local lakes to visit and tiny islands to explore. The two regional parks of Verkiai and Pavilniai border Vilnius offering glimpses of nature untouched for centuries. They are excellent locations for birdwatchers and nature lovers in general and it is also possible to hire bikes or experience horse riding in both parks. Also you can visit the Vilnius University. This university is one of the oldest and most famous universities in Eastern Europe. The library of the Vilnius University was founded one year later than the famous Oxford library.
